Efteling have revealed De Vliegende Hollander, it's semi-indoor roller coaster will receive a new scene when it reopens in April.
The park has unveiled the new scene will replace a scene where guests encounter captain Willem van der Deckens face in the darkness. Guests will now end up in the middle of a burning shipwreck surrounded by smoke, dangling barrels and drapes.
This new scene will symbolise the interior of the rotten soul of Willem van der Decken.
The park have said "The regular maintenance was slightly extended this year because the track had to be partly blasted and coated. This extra time gave us the opportunity to simultaneously improve one of the scenes. We couldn't get to the captain's head in scene 10, which made maintenance difficult. Then at some point you have to choose whether to maintain that or make a change in it. We chose the latter."
De Vliegende Hollander reopens Friday 18th April 2025.
